Please allow me to introduce two newcomers to the Therapy Dog scene:
CH Harnett Alleghe Peerless, TD and Harnett MegVu Honor Mr. Dwelly, TD, lovingly known to all as Noki and her son, Billy.

Noki is a 13" Beagle, while her son is of the 15" variety. Noki has been visiting for about a year, while Billy is just getting started.

I am Evelyn McCartney, their owner, handler and mom. Our favorite place to visit is the Pendleton Place Children Shelter. It warms the heart to see the smiling faces of all the children when the dogs come through the doors. It is especially rewarding when the children ask questions about my dogs, and dogs in general. They listen so intently.

I feel it is my job as a responsible dog owner/breeder, to educate anyone, young or old, about my breed, about proper care and health issues of our 4-legged friends, as well as, introduce folks to all of the hundreds of dog breeds. I recently gave to the children of Pendleton Place, a huge AKC DOG BREEDS Poster, which pictures all the different breeds of dogs in their specific groups. The children loved it! They asked questions, wanted details about the jobs of each kind of dog, they quizzed each other, and quizzed me, too!! It made for a great and unusual visit! While this was all going on, Billy was getting to know the kids, he brought along a tennis ball for the kids to roll for him!

While at the Greenville Behavioral facility, it is nice just to listen as the patients reminisce about dogs they once had, seems just about everyone has known or loved a Beagle. All this goes on while folks are petting and making over Noki, she enjoys the attention!

I hope as time goes by, we will be able to reach out to many others in the area, so all our dogs can bring them much needed pleasure and enjoyment.
