I
have read about therapy dogs, and their healing effect on people for
years. I have not had a dog in about 13 years, but when I decided
to buy one last year, I wanted most of all a dog suited to therapy
work. In my research I found a seldom heard of little dog: a
Lowchen. The are small, not subject to diseases, do not shed, and
have human like hair which does not smell "doggy". Lowchens are
cheerful, smart, and bred to be companion dogs. The name Lowchen
means "little lion", and they are kept in a lion cut.
I knew from the first that this was the dog for me. I got my adorable little Lowchen, Piccolo, last year. He is the light of my life, and we both enjoy our therapy visits very much. It is wonderful to see him bring a smile to people's faces wherever we go!
