Hello, please let me introduce you to my wonderful Yellow Lab, Tater. He is a little over a year and a half and has been doing pet therapy since he was 10 weeks old. As “grandma” is in an assisted care facility, he was given the privilege to come into her facility and visit. So, even though Tater is quite young he is quite a veteran. When he sees me get his vest and leash out he knows he is getting ready to get lots of “lovin” and put a smile on a lot of people’s faces. I was introduced to Therapy Dogs by my father who takes his dog to several nursing homes. I started going on visits in January 2007 and have been enjoying myself immensely. One of my most memorable visits is when visited a patient whose dog was named Tater also. She sat with Tater the whole visit and just talked and talked to him. Well, when I returned in a couple of weeks, the patient remembered our group coming and wanted to know where Tater was. Even if you only touch one person on a visit it makes it all worth it. I left there with a very full heart and a much loved dog.
