Teddy adopted me from the Greenwood Humane Society in February 2008.  I had absolutely no intention of adopting a dog, but there was something special about him. I saw early on that he had qualities that would make him a great therapy dog.  Those qualities really came through during the testing and observation period with the good folks at Paws2Care.  We hit the ground running as soon as he received his TDInc tags.  He has become a local celebrity.  We have started a successful and popular read-to-a-therapy-dog program called "Teddy Time" at two elementary schools in Greenwood. In fact, several students who saw us on a weekly basis improved on their MAP reading tests.  We also make regular visits to several nursing homes.  Teddy has even been asked to model for a children's art class. More recently, we were asked to visit a Sunday school class with special needs children.  So it appears that my visit to the pound that day was fate, and not chance.  Our visits have become our calling to help serve our community by sharing love and giving comfort.
